I've reinstalled a game onto windows 8 pro which I had on windows 8 release preview. It worked fine before, and when I tried to start it the first time, it said I had a missing dll, which was fine, so I downloaded it and extracted into the sys64 folder. I then tried to open the game again.
This time I got this error: 'The ordinal 42 could not be located in the dynamic link library C: WINDOWS SYSTEM32 xlive.dll.' The live programme I suspect the xlive.dll is referring to is microsoft games.
I've also downloaded xlive.dll and extracted it into SYSTEM32, and it didn't work, I just got the same error message. The error message appears as soon as I click on the game. Hopefully I've supplied enough information. Please help:(.
Hi Ricky, Thank you for sharing your query on Microsoft Community Forum! Thank you for providing and gathering information for this issue.
Your efforts are really appreciated. Which game are you referring? Xlive.dll actually comes in the 'Games for Live' package installer.
Let’s download Xlive.dll from the following link and check if that helps. Method 1: a) Download the package b) Right click the package and choose 'Run as Administrator' c) Install the application and restart the computer.
D) Try and run the game and check if the issue persists. If that does not help, I would suggest you to uninstall the game and tell reinstall it.
Method 2:Run SFC / Scannow. Please follow the below steps: Run the System File Checker (SFC) scan. Follow these steps: a) Boot to the desktop view. B) Open command prompt, right click in the left corner when the Start windowappear and select command prompt (admin). C) Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow. The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.
Give this a go; I’m confident you will find what you need here. But if you face any further issue please reply back to this post and we'll be happy to assist you further.
Download a hexeditor and install it. Write down the 'E0xxxxxxx' code from your savegame folder which ones XLive account you've lost. Create a new XLive account. Go to 'C: Users AppData Local Microsoft XLive Content E0xxxxxxxxx FFFE07D1 00010000' (If you can't go to there, turn hidden folders to visible) 5.
There you will find a one file, open it with the hexeditor. Find following lines: () 7. Now replace the underlined lines with the code you wrote down at step 2. (Notice the upper line, it is writed backwards) 8. If you can't find the lines, it's the same code that the Xlive account has (shown in the video).
Save the file you edited. Rename the following file and folders with the code you wrote down at step 2: C: Users AppData Local Microsoft XLive Content E0xxxxxxxxxx C: Users AppData Local Microsoft XLive Content E0xxxxxxxxxx FFFE07D1 00010000 E0xxxxxx (the file you hexedited) C: Users AppData Local Microsoft XLive Content E0xxxxxxxxxx FFFE07D1 00010000 E0xxxxxxxxxx_MountPt (leave the '_MountPt' at the end, don't remove it) 10. If your old savegames aren't already in the folder where they should be, copy them to 'C: Users AppData Local Rockstar Games GTA IV savegames' 11. Play Edited May 11, 2010 by -zerox. Thanks for the guide, but I have a problem.
When I open the corresponding file with the hexeditor, I'm not able to find the lines that you mentioned in your guide. I followed the steps carefully, but something's wrong with it. I'd really appreciate your help. Thxs Which file you were trying to open? Post a screenshot so I can see.
I tried again today and it worked! I just had to find the corresponding lines to my E0xxxxxxxxx file. They're different for every LIVE profile. Thanks a lot for the guide! Edited December 22, 2008 by avenged7xuy.
